Spring is crowned every year in the most fabulous way in Madeira during the Madeira Flower Festival. Stunning carpets of natural flowers fill the city’s main streets, that attract the attention of visitors with all their colors and scents. The festival’s main attraction is the magnificent Flower Parade, where flower-bedecked floats make their way through the streets of Funchal accompanied by hundreds of people dressed in costumes lavishly adorned with flowers. It also combines traditions and much-loved attractions, such as the children’s parade and “Wall of Hope”, the flower classic auto parade, living statues, a fantastic array of kiosks selling flowers and embroidery, as well as traditional food and drinks.
Without doubt, the best times to visit Madeira are spring to admire the Flower Festival and winter to admire the spectacular and world-renowned firework display.
