Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Terceira & flight to Faial

Upon arrival in Terceira, you will take a connecting flight to Faial. Upon landing, you will be transferred to your accommodation.

 

Day 2

Faial Full Day Tour

You begin your full-day tour discovering the island of Faial by driving through the city of Horta. Horta is most famous for its cosmopolitan yacht harbor. Your next stop is at the scenic point of Espalamaca to view the harbor and all its surroundings, followed by a visit to the Caldeira. The Caldeira is a large crater in the central part of the island where you view the beautiful natural landscape. As you descend to the center of the island, you encounter cattle grazing on hillsides. Your tour’s next destination is the Capelinhos, a volcanic area where the last eruption occurred in 1958. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, you stop at a camping area with a reconstructed home depicting a typical “old farm” Faial house.

 

Day 3

Pico Full Day Tour

You begin the full-day tour of Pico, called the “Mountain Island,” starting at the famous wine vineyards (Criação Velha), recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004. Then, you continue to Lajes do Pico, stopping at the beautiful Church in São Mateus. As you proceed, you will make several stops at a handicraft exhibition, whaling museum (Museu dos Baleeiros), and other points of interest. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant as the tour proceeds around the island. You continue your tour towards São Roque do Pico, stopping briefly at the Arcos do Cachorro, an impressive display of rock formations (one in the shape of a dog), coming out of the sea. You will also have the opportunity to taste some of the famous liquors of the region.

 

Day 4

Flight from Faial to Terceira

Today, you will take a flight from Faial back to Terceira. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore.

 

Day 5

Leisure Day

Enjoy another free day on the island to explore as you wish. Consider visiting natural pools, hiking trails, or indulging in local gastronomy. Optional tours such as a jeep safari or a cultural experience could be arranged.

 

Day 6

Full Day Tour of Terceira

Today you will have a full-day tour to explore the island of Terceira, also known as “The Lilac Island.” The tour departs for Monte Brazil, passing by the beautiful city of Angra do Heroísmo and stopping at Pico das Cruzinhas. This is the highest point on Monte Brasil, offering a stunning view of the city and its outskirts. The tour continues towards the eastern side of the island, showcasing the typical settlements and rural architecture, including the colorful “Impérios.” Then, you stop in the town of São Sebastião, where the church is one of the oldest in the Azores. After lunch, the tour proceeds to Praia Vitória and then to Serra do Cume, which offers breathtaking views overlooking the town of Lajes and the ocean. Return to your accommodation in the late afternoon.

 

Day 7

Leisure Day

Spend the day at your leisure. You may choose to relax at your hotel, take a walk along the coastline, or visit any remaining sites of interest.

 

Day 8

Departure from Terceira

Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight. Take with you wonderful memories of your time in Terceira, Faial, and Pico.
