Blogging Santo Christo Feast

The Santo Christo Feast is less than a week away, and I wanted to let everyone know that I will be blogging about the Santo Christo Feast from Ponta Delgada.

The posts will range from my departure flight on SATA, to picking up the group, the festivities, and the return flight back to Boston.

Be sure to check back here often for updates.

Praia do Populo

The Praia do Populo beach is located in the town of Sao Roque, on the island of Sao Miguel, about a 10-15 minute drive from Ponta Delgada.  It is one of the many soft black sand beaches, on the island, and a great beach to take a dip on a hot day.

During the summertime the beach is very popular with the locals, as there are restaurants, cafés, and even a hotel near the beach.

These pictures were taken in late November, while it was windy day, the temperature was in the 60’s that day and there were people surfing in the water.

Lapas Grelhadas

Lapas are one of the various types of seafood that you can eat in the Azores.  Within the islands they are served either fresh or grilled, personally we like them grilled with lemon.

Lapas Grelhadas with Lemon

Most restaurants serve the dish as an appetizer, and its usually best paired with an ice cold beer, or Laranjada.
